Terms of use

By using this site you accept what follows. It is written to be understood, not to hide anything.

What this site is

PadReset is a directory and a guide: it explains how to reset the waste-ink pad counter on Epson printers and links to free tools written by third parties. It does not repair anything, it is not a workshop, and it charges nothing.

Use at your own risk

The reset talks to your printer's EEPROM over USB. A wrong tool or a wrong model definition can write to the wrong address, leave the machine in an error state, or make it report an ink amount that is not real. And it cleans nothing: if you hide a physically saturated pad, the ink ends up inside the printer. Physical maintenance before the reset is mandatory, and the decision to write to the EEPROM is yours.

No warranty

The site and its information are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that a given counter on a given model can be reset, or that a tool will work with your firmware.

Third-party tools

The linked programs are not ours: they belong to their authors and keep their license. We do not support them and we are not responsible for their behaviour; for a specific bug, their issue tracker is the right place. We check the link and the released version, but a later release can differ: verify the hash before running anything.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for damage to your printer, data loss or lost profits arising from the use of this site, the guide or the linked tools. Nothing published here is professional technical or legal advice.

Trademarks, licences and affiliation

This site is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Seiko Epson Corporation. “Epson”, “EcoTank”, “WorkForce” and “Expression” belong to their respective owners and are mentioned only to describe compatibility. The texts on this site are CC BY-SA 4.0 and its code is MIT.

Changes

We may change these terms by publishing the new version on this page, with its revision date above. If a change is significant, we will also announce it on the home page.
