# Supported models

Epson Reset spans 1,500+ models from the community reinkpy database. Search yours before downloading (being listed does not guarantee your exact firmware was tested on hardware). “Resettable” is the internal counter; if the maintenance box has a chip, the program does not touch it.

## Search your model

Hyphens and spaces are optional. The app also detects the model when you connect. If your box has a chip, read “When software is not enough” below.

[`models.json`](https://padreset.com/models.json) — Data: yusnel-rojas/epson-reset (AGPL-3.0), derived from reinkpy. Not a PadReset database.

## When software is not enough

These tools write the counter stored in the printer's EEPROM. On some models — especially EcoTank, WorkForce and Expression units with a replaceable maintenance box — that “end of service life” also lives on a chip in the box itself. The program does not talk to that chip.

How to tell: the box has a small chip with metal contacts, like the one on a cartridge. A new box with a fresh chip usually unlocks it. If you reuse the box, you need a physical resetter for that chip or a compatible replacement chip, and it likewise requires emptying or washing the pads.

A resettable status here means there are published addresses for the internal counter. It does not guarantee that a maintenance box chip, if present, will be reset to zero.

## Support states

- **Verified**: Tested on real hardware by project volunteers.
- **Community**: Supported by the community-maintained database.
- **Experimental**: Third-party derived data, not verified on hardware; proceed with extra care.

- L3250, L3251, L3253 and L3255: verified on hardware by MaintenanceCounterUtility (June 2026).
- L3250 (firmware 05.22.XF26P8): validated by epson-l3250-l4260-reset with a follow-up read at 0%.
- ET-2820 (Apple Silicon, firmware XE28+): verified by openwicreset on macOS.

## How do I know which model I have?

- Label on the back or bottom of the printer: look for the “Model” field.
- Front panel: usually printed below the display or next to the logo.
- On-screen menu → Information/Setup → Network Status (shows model and IP).
- The tools themselves auto-detect the model over USB or SNMP when reading it.

## Full lists per project

Every project publishes its complete database. Check the exact list before using a specific tool:

- [MAkcanca/epson-waste-reset](https://github.com/MAkcanca/epson-waste-reset) — ~1,271 models (run python reset_epson.py --list-models)
- [devmosman/MaintenanceCounterUtility](https://github.com/devmosman/MaintenanceCounterUtility) — 108 models with verification status (SUPPORTED_MODELS.md)
- [RxNaison/Epson-Waste-Reset](https://github.com/RxNaison/Epson-Waste-Reset) — database.json synced from reinkpy
- [Ircama/epson_print_conf](https://github.com/Ircama/epson_print_conf) — detailed per-model EEPROM and key reference

## Is your model missing?

If it is missing from the EEPROM database, open an issue on the relevant project stating the exact model, firmware and OS. EWR can add new layouts by capturing USB traffic with Wireshark (replay method). That does not unlock a maintenance-box chip: there is nothing there for the software to write.
